Blog Tour de Troops

Welcome to the first stop in the final day of Blog Tour de Troops. Your last stop was at Lili Tufel's Blog the next stop on the tour will be at Gracen Miller's.

Today I am dedicating my post to the memory of Army Sgt. Dominic Sacco.

1st Battalion, 13th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kan.

On November 20th, 2005, my friend Lisa received the news at work that her brother Dominic had been killed in action.

Sgt. Sacco was a tank commander in the Army. On November 20th he had pushed himself through the hatch on his tank to check the perimeter in Taji, Iraq. While looking through his binoculars, a sniper caught him under his arm, where his body armor left him exposed.

What was your relationship like growing up?
Typical brother and sister relationship.  We bickered a lot, but got very close as adults.  Even though he was my little brother, he always took the role as my protector.

How has your family been affected by his loss?
My brother's son Anthony was only 3 months old when my brother was killed, so he didn't see any immediate affects as he was too young. Now he is 6 years old and really misses having his Dad around.  He tells us all the time that he wishes he could see him.  His step daughter Elyssa was 4 when he died, so she was still a little young to fully understand what was happening.  His wife Brandy is still coping with his death, and misses him terribly.  She sees him everyday in their son.

How was he honored for his service in the Army?
He received a purple heart and a bronze star.

What do you and your family do to remember him?

We do things like this to talk about how proud we are of him.  We also talk about him a lot to his son, so that he will know about his father.

What would you like everyone to know about your brother?

He was very outgoing and loved to have fun.  He was a fan of the NY Mets, Oakland Raiders and LA Lakers.  He loved his family very much.

If someone reading this experienced the loss of a loved one, what advice would you give?

Surround yourself with family and friends.  Nothing is worse than the first year.

If there was one word to describe your brother what would it be?

Thank you Lisa for sharing your brother's memory with us. And thank you to all of the men and women who continue to risk their lives for us every day and to those that have fallen. May their sacrifice not be in vain.

Even though Veteran's Day has passed, let's not forget to take the time to stop someone in uniform and thank them for their selfless acts of bravery.

With the approach of the holidays, please find a way to donate a care package to a soldier. The simple things we take for granted are a treasure to them.

If you leave a comment on my blog today I will send you a pdf ARC of my book Full Body Contact which I co-authored with Cristyn West. I will also donate a copy to a soldier.

Don't forget to leave your email address so I know where to send your copy. If you know of an active duty or veteran service member who would also like a copy, be sure to include their email address as well.

One lucky commenter on the tour will also be entered to win a Kindle!

Battlefield Collection has generously donated a military jersey, winner's choice, for me to gift to a soldier.
If you'd like to donate money toward a Kindle for our soldiers, simply click here for secure donations via Paypal. Please note on your payment that it's a Troops donation.

Fave Friday

There are certain albums that I play over and over again on my iPod. Sometimes it drives my husband crazy...

Lifehouse is one of them.

Jason Wade's raspy voice enthralls me every time I hear it. In concert he's even better!

Lifehouse - Everything

This song is one of my absolute favorites. Perfect for writing those emotional scenes. What song speaks to you? Do you tend to play the same albums repeatedly? Or am I the only one?

Help! I See Dead People!

Woah!  Where am I?

I signed up for this Indie Book Collective blog tour called Masquerade, part of the Blog Tour de Force series.  Everything was fine until I just got kidnapped, blindfolded, and dumped here on Elena Gray’s blog.  It’s so dark here!  And #scary!  This place is so completely different from the blog I’m used to occupying.

Please help me get out of here.  When I was thrown into this dark place, I heard a gruff voice tell me that if I told anyone who I was that they would kill me.  Then they threw me a copy of Cristyn West and Elena Gray’s Widowmaker and told me it was the only entertainment I was allowed.

A horror movie that is causing people to die?  Something so scary that people watching it are seizing, bleeding out of their eyes, and having heart attacks?  #GROSS!

It does not help that they haven’t given me any lights other than the moonlight coming through the trees.  I have to press my nose to the book to read it and I keep waiting for something to grab me and hurt me, either on this blog or from the book.  The writing is so good that it feels so real and it is not helping me deal with my situation very well… yet I keep reading it!

The docu-horror film inside the book is called Terror in the Trees.  Looking around at the skeletal trees here on the blog, I can’t help but wonder if they’ve only brought me here to make me the subject of Elena’s next paranormal book.

Something just moved over there.

Man, I don’t even like horror movies.  I really don’t want to be in one.  I’m used to a much different form of entertainment--one that uses the entire color spectrum and not just black, blacker, and blackest.  The worst part?  There’s no one here to listen to my #sarcasm and #snark!

I don’t do well on my own.  I’m a social person.  I like to make people laugh with my writing and with my tweets.  I like talking about fun, happy memories of childhood and childlike adults (or making fun of them!).  Also, I just stepped in something that ruined my #shoes.

This experience is NOT getting filed under “fun, happy memories!”

Please, help me.  Help me and you can help yourself too!

I overheard someone talking when they were transporting me here.  They said that every person who comments on this one post that I was allowed would receive a free copy of Elena Gray and Cristyn West’s Widowmaker.  I’m betting even if you leave the lights on, it’ll still freak you out.  They even said that Elena is putting together a gift basket to give away to one of the commenters.  If it’s a severed head, I’m going to be very upset.

Actually, she’s giving away a movie themed basket with a mystery DVD and all of the goodies you'll need to watch it.

On top of that, those crazy folks over at the Indie Book Collective are giving away a free Kindle to one participant over the course of the entire blog tour.

Ah, crap, someone’s coming.

The gruff voice just came and threw some more books at me.  They told me that I would be freed on Monday, October 24th but only if people can figure out who I am from my post will I be freed alive.  #gulp What kind of sick game are these people on about?!

I’m looking through these books.  The Demon Kiss by Lacey Weatherford? Sadistic evil mirrored with elements of love and epic quests.  Soul Search by Amber Scott is an animalistic story about a guy whose soul is split with that of a wolf.  Most of these books seem just as terrifying as Widowmaker!  I’ll settle on Ann Charles’s Dance of the Winnebagos, at least I caught references to Mighty Mouse, Miami Vice, and CSI early on… it appeals to my pop-culture fandom.

Are you still there?

Please, help me get out of here.  These twisted game-players want you to guess who I am from the list of 12 authors signed up to this freaky blog tour.  I tried to give you clues the brutes that threw me here may not catch.  Comment below with your guess.  Elena will email you details for your free copy of Widowmaker so make sure you leave your email address!

It’s up to you to get me out of here alive on Monday!  For sake of conversation, how about you also share with me your favorite horror movie?  I need to have something to do to keep me busy until Monday, when I am released… dead or alive.

Prophecy Tour Final Day: Author Love

Welcome one and all to our PROPHECY TOUR, 2011! Gracen Miller, Deena Remiel, and I have teamed up to bring you three days of fascinating fun at all three of our websites. There's in-depth discussion of our craft, paranormal chit-chat, and promotions galore!

So, how does this work? All YOU need to do is read our posts and follow each day's rules to win prizes! At the end of each post are links to each of us that you can click on and follow. We hope you have fun, learn a bit more about us, and enjoy your experience. PROPHECY SAYS YOU WILL, SO WE SAY, GO WITH IT!

Today is the final day of our tour and it's all about showing some author love!  I was a fan of Deena and Gracen before I became a friend.  I was following both of their prequels on their blogs and eagerly awaiting the release of their books.  After many chats on FB a friendship was born!

I am so fortunate to have these two fabulous women in my life!  As a newbie writer, they are always available to offer me advice...and I gladly accept it!

First off I have to tell you that you will find yourself stalking Deena after reading Trinity.  Her angels are hot!  My only complaint is that I have to wait for Relic!  She can't write fast enough for me.

Angels are among us and they are here to battle evil and save our souls.

3 Protectors, 3 Warriors and 3 Saviors have manifested on earth.  They are known as the Brethren.  Whew...fanning myself just thinking about them! Grab a copy of Brethren Beginnings (you can see my review HERE) for an introduction to 3 of her other steamy angels.

Trinity is Michael's story.  He's one of the Protectors.  Michael is sent to help Emma and her daughter Hannah battle evil.  This book is beautifully written and will draw you in from start to finish.  I was up until the wee hours of the morning reading this.

Head to Gracen's blog and start reading her Life Lessons.  If that doesn't convince you to run out and buy Pandora's Box, then you're going to miss out on a terrifying read!

Madison is a kick ass Mom who will do anything to protect her son.  Even if it means going up against the King of Hell!

Pandora's Box is a crazy ride that you won't want to get off!

This is the first Horromance that I've read and I love how it goes from gory to sexy without ruining the flow.  One minute I was saying "that's gross" and the next I was saying "that's hot".

When's the release date for Hell's Phoenix (Book 2) Gracen?  I need to know what happens next! Running off to stalk her!

Decadent Publishing:

As a thank you for following us on this tour we have a Grand Prize to offer!  I created custom pieces for Deena, Gracen and myself to offer to one lucky winner.

Brethren Bracelet

Pandora's Box Earrings
Elena's Paranormal Ring

Here are the rules:
You must comment on all 3 of our blog posts today to be eligible.  Be sure to leave an email address so we can contact you if you win.

Prophecy Tour Day 2: Night Visions Teaser

Night Visions is my current WIP.  Remember the contest I was talking about in my previous post?  The one where I had to create a character. Well this is the story that unfolded as a result of it.  I thought I would share a little teaser with you!

My name is Samantha Cade.  I used to be an average girl living her dream of writing, that is until some not so average things started happening to me.  It began with unexplained visions and voices in my head.  At first I thought I was losing my mind. Ready to book an extended stay in a padded room.  Then I realized they were trying to warn me.  The only problem is, I haven't figured out why.

As if my world wasn't crazy enough, Ian Behr, has reappeared in my life.  Years ago he left without so much as a goodbye.  Now he's back and his past is shrouded in mystery.  If I'm going to survive, I'll need to guard my heart.

Will Ian be my salvation or my demise?

Up for grabs today is another $5 Amazon Gift Card.  Leave a comment below telling me about an experience that changed your life.  Don't forget to leave your email address so I can contact you if you win!

Prophecy Tour Day 1: My Road to Writing

You always hear authors say that since they were a child, they dreamed about being an author. That they have piles of notebooks under their bed of all the amazing tales they created through the years. And then there's my story. I became a writer because I wanted to win a book. Funny how things happen.

I had entered a contest on an author's blog that asked you to create a character and you would be entered to win a copy of the author's book. Cool. Sounded like fun, and I really wanted her book.  So I began to create a character and his love interest.

Not only did I create a character, but I created a monster as well. This couple would not leave me alone. They wanted me to finish their story. They followed me everywhere. To the grocery store, the bathroom, they even invaded my dreams. Nothing was off limits to them. They were actually extremely annoying.

So one night, while on an author's chat, an author asked if I was an author. I responded “no, but I had these characters that nagged me constantly to write their story.” She told me to go for it. Write it down and see what happens. So I did. I wrote 20K in less than two months. I couldn't believe it. The story spilled out and my book was almost complete. Almost.

As a newbie author still honing her craft, I had hundreds of questions swirling through my mind and no idea where to find the answers.

Fortunately I found an amazing writing sister! We share our insecurities about writing, bounce ideas off of each other and give each other the nudge we need to keep plugging away.

We discovered each other in our book group. We both write paranormal and are working on our first novel, so it seemed only natural for us to work together and critique our books. Our first collaborative phone conversation lasted for hours! It was nice to know that the things I was struggling with in my writing, were also things that she was struggling with. If I was stuck on a plot point, she would talk it through with me until I could come up with a solution and vice versa. As a new author, I didn't know what were normal fears or struggles. Now I had someone to share that with.

We are our own worst critic. Thankfully I have a critique partner that I click with. When I begin to doubt myself, she gives me the boost I need to keep plugging away. All authors need their very own cheerleader. And did I mention chat is our lifeline? We constantly check in with each other to see where we are with our writing. We are chatting online as I type this. It's nice to know that even though we are miles from each other, we can hop on and connect at any time.

The friendships that I've developed since I began writing are what keep me motivated and on track. They are invaluable. I wouldn't have progressed as far as I have without them. If any of us need help, everyone steps up to offer support and guidance. There is no competition here. If one of us succeeds we all succeed! There isn't a more rewarding feeling than seeing your friend's book released and helping promote and review it.

That's why I'm honored to participate in this tour with Deena and Gracen!

For your chance to win a $5 Amazon Gift Card, let me know who is the one person that keeps you on track.  Be sure to leave your email address with your comment so I can contact you if you win.

Menage a Blog With Deena Remiel

It's Menage time!  Menage a Blog that is!

3 authors a day for 4 days will be flirting their way to the finish line and wooing you with their amazing books!

I am honored to sponsor "Brethren Beginnings" by Deena Remiel on this amazing tour!

Angels are among us and they are here to battle evil and save our souls.

3 Protectors, 3 Warriors and 3 Saviors have manifested on earth.  They are known as the Brethren.

"Brethren Beginnings Vol 1" introduces us to 3 of them.

Gabriel, a Protector, is tasked with saving a group of young men and women from a man that uses them for his own financial gain.

Nathanael, a Warrior, is battling his own inner demons.  With great power comes great temptation.

Cassiel, a Savior, lives his life as a doctor, saving children from life threatening illnesses.  But will he be able to save them all?

I eagerly await reading Gabriel, Nathanael & Cassiel's full story!  Especially Nathanael!  He has a long road ahead and must save himself from evil before he can save the world.

I must warn you, that reading this novella will cause you to become addicted to Deena's Angels.  You may find yourself emailing, tweeting and basically stalking Deena at all hours of the night looking for clues into the release date of her future novels.  Oh wait a minute...that may just be me.

Also please understand that this novella is not a romance.  It's just an introduction to the characters.  What?  She has to save something for her books!

When you are finished with "Brethren Beginnings", grab a copy of "Trinity".  It contains Michael's story and yes there you will find a love story!

So if you ever find yourself in need of an Angel, send out a prayer and they will appear!

Psst...would you like a free ebook copy of "Brethren Beginnings"?  Tell me the secret message in your comment below and it's yours!  And don't forget to leave your email address so I know where to send your ebook. don't know the secret message?  Well because I love you all so much, I am going to give you the link to Deena's blog and you will find it there!  Click Here

Lifarre Series

For those that would like to get to know me better, I have a series at another blog that pertain to my sister's battle with cancer.  These posts were very difficult to write.  I could barely see my screen through the tears.

My sister was my best friend and my hero.  When she died a part of me died with her.  The happy and carefree side of me diminished.  I used to be the life of the party and now I find myself sitting to the side and watching other people have fun.

I'm surrounded by friends and family that love me, but at times I feel so alone.  I know that it will take time to heal and that my heart will always ache for what we will never have.

I need to reflect on the beautiful memories that we created.  I know she wouldn't want me to feel this way.  That she would want me to live my life the way she the fullest.  Not taking one day for granted.

So I will do that.  I know it won't be easy, but if I take it one day at a time, I know I can lift myself up.

I would love it if you would stop by my blog at Lifarre and "Like" my latest post "Facing My Fear".   I discuss overcoming my fear of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

Please leave a comment there and let me know that you are a friend from my blog.  I would appreciate your support.

A Warrior's Witch Blog Tour - Interview With Stacey Kennedy

Welcome to the next stop on A Warrior's Witch Blog Tour!

I am honored to have Stacey Kennedy here today, because this girl can write some steamy books!

I would be lying if I didn't say I was a little jealous of Stacey and her muse. She can write books faster than I can write my grocery list!

She released her first book in July of last year.  It hasn't even been a year and over 15 books have followed.
I can't keep up with her! Just when I think I have time to breathe after finishing one of her books, two more are being released.

Can you give us a hint about the next book that you are working on?

Next up is the 2nd Lingering Spirit Book that will be called, Dark Shadow. The story is all plotted out and ready for me to write. One hint I’ll give is, it’s going to be one heck of an emotional ride, and you might even find yourself a little scared a times—ghosts aren’t the only thinking lurking around Tess. OK—that’s all I’m saying about that!

I loved Stolen Dreams, so I can't wait for Dark Shadow!!
You recently became a full time writer. How did that feel to be able to quit your job and give your muse free reign?

My muse has found her happy place. Quitting the job has given me so much more time to get everyday life stuff done, which in turn, gives me more downtown. This is what makes the muse so happy. She’s rested, so when she wants to be creative, I’ve got the energy to let her soar.

Well we definitely want your muse to be happy!  Happy equals more great books for us!
Okay. Now it's time to get personal. Granny panties or thongs? Just kidding... Not that personal.

Um…hello, I’m an erotic romance writer, undies are not off limits! LOL! I’m all about comfort baby, but I’ve got some lace to make the hubby’s eyes burn once in a while!

Thanks for sharing Stacey!  I'll make a note that nothing is off limits for future interviews!
Who is your biggest, most unexpected fan of your books?

Everyone! Honestly, I’m just so humbled that people enjoy reading my stories. I write because I love to, so it makes me blissfully happy that others like my characters as much as I do.

How involved does your hubby get with your writing?

He has no involvement whatsoever. Reading to my hubby would be about as much fun as getting a tooth pulled. But sometimes I read him snippets off the steamy stuff—he tends to love those scenes.

I agree with you.  My hubby likes those scenes too.  The only way I can get him to read is if I leave the book in the bathroom.
Do you ever incorporate family members or friends in your books?

Lord no! Imagining someone I know in one of my love scenes is just…ick!

What was your biggest challenge when you first began writing?

Easy answer—grammar. I really had no training, expect for what I learned in high school and the little bit in college. So, for me, the challenge over the last year was to learn more about those little buggers I loathe, commas. We don’t get along. I’m still learning and have a long way to go before I’ll say I’m good at grammar.

Stolen Dreams was your first Indie book. What made you decide to self-publish?

In truth, I self-published the story because I sent it out to a round of epublishers who all rejected it. Sometimes even though you love a story, and are pretty determined others will too, epublishers just aren’t looking for that story.

Even now, if the opportunity came up for me to place it in a good home, I would. Only time will tell what will happen to this series…

Well I can speak for myself when I say I'm glad you self-published!
Tell us one thing people would be surprised to know about you.

I never re-fill ice cube trays. Ever! Drives my hubby nuts, but he loves me enough to fill them for me.

Aww how sweet!
What is one or two of your most embarrassing moments?

There has been so many I could never narrow it down. But I’ll tell you the latest one—I tweeted an agent on Twitter and I spelled something wrong in it. That was mortifying!

LOL.  I remember sending a couple of tweets to you and I could not get what I wanted to say out!  Total brain malfunction!
Do you need silence when you write or background noise?

Total silence. Sometimes the kids are watching a movie and I can tune it out to write a little, but I never get much accomplished. Silence works best for me.

How do you stay organized?

Prioritize things, and never leave my Iphone at home. My calendar is my lifeline.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate—all types and a lot of it!

If you could choose only one of your books to be made into a movie which would it be and why?

Um, the new Ryker book—Tainted Blood—just so I could see Ryker in the flesh! *grins*

Yes!  I totally agree!
What's the most creative thing a fan has done for you?

Just recently one of my awesome fans offered to design swag for me. It should be available soon and I can hardly wait to see what she comes up with.

How cool!  I can't wait either.  I'll be watching for your announcement!
Is there any genre that is off limits for you?

Historical. I couldn’t—nor would I ever try to—write one. It would just be a big old mess!

You're told your next book has to be a historical. In four sentences or less tell me the Who, Where and What.

LOL! Like I said above, my muse does not acknowledge historical novels.

Okay.  Can't blame a girl for trying!
Since I put you on the spot with some of my questions, you can ask me anything and I'll have to answer honestly.

Grannie panties or thongs?? (Hey—you made me answer it)

LOL.  Well I hate thongs and only wear them when absolutely necessary.  I do not like having a wedgie all day.  I am also all about comfort!  I only wear Victoria Secret panties, because I love all of their cute designs and hubby does too.

Thank you so much Stacey for stopping by and letting us get to know you better.

Show Stacey some love and follow her:

BTW...Stacey has been known to do some impromptu giveaways. So make sure you follow!

If you haven't read one of Stacey's books yet, now is the time to start!  But be warned, her books are addictive and you will find yourself up until the wee hours of the morning finishing them!  And A Warrior's Witch is no exception!  Stacey makes her characters come alive and her books will leave you breathless from start to finish!

Holiday Plans

With the approach of Memorial Day weekend, many people are preparing for the extended holiday.  It's that time of year when we get together with family and friends for cold drinks and BBQ's.  But it's also a time to reflect on those that have sacrificed themselves for our freedom.  We often forget the true meaning of Memorial Day.  A day to honor the men and women who showed outstanding bravery while in the line of duty and the families that are left with only memories of them.
I am proud to announce the 1st annual Blog Tour de Troops.  This is not your average blog tour.  You don't have to compete against other readers for a prize.  In this tour everyone wins.  Just think of it as an open bar for ebooks.  This event consists of 35 talented authors that are gifting each person that comments on their blog with one of their ebooks!  But wait, it gets even better.  Not only will you receive an ebook, but for every comment left, an ebook will also be donated to a soldier.  The generosity of these authors astounds me!
I hope you will stop by and say hi to them and help a soldier get an ebook.  If you have a specific soldier that you would like to gift it to, please let them know and they will make sure they receive it.  If you can't make the tour, click the link on my sidebar and make a donation toward sending Kindles to our troops.  No amount is too small to give.
I plan to be sitting poolside this weekend with my laptop and loading up my Kindle.  Hope to see you all on the tour!  If you do participate, the best way to thank these authors is by leaving a review for them.

One of my fave authors Amber Scott is leading this tour, so head over to her blog tomorrow and leave a comment for your copy of Irish Moon.  I loved this book and I've been bugging her to hurry up and finish book 2 Enchanted Moon.

Why Giveaways Will No Longer Be On FB

For those that don't know, FB has a policy in place in regards to contests.  Here is the link so you can read it in full .
Is today the first day that I'm finding out about FB's contest rules?  No.  I knew when I created my page, but figured they didn't enforce it, because so many other pages were offering contests.  Well now the word is out, they are cracking down and canceling accounts that violate their policies.  Am I mad?  Yes, but I can only blame myself, because I knew going in what their policy entailed.
So does this mean that I will stop offering giveaways?  Absolutely not!  They will now take place on my blog.  I don't want those that have been faithfully following my FB page to miss out, so I have multiple options in place to follow me.  On the right sidebar you can select Google Friend Connect, Email Subscription or Networked Blogs.  I would love it if you would follow GFC and Networked Blogs.  It makes it easier for me to see all of my FB peeps.  So hurry and sign up so we can return to our regularly scheduled contest!

Comment Posting 101

I thought I would write today's blog post about commenting.  Many people miss out on the full blogging experience, because they don't know how to post a comment.  To minimize confusion, I'll use the two most common blogging sites.  The first will be blogger and the second WordPress.  Comment links are generally found at the end of the post.

The above is an example of a pop up window in Blogger.  Enter your comment in the box.  Some bloggers will have word verification enabled.  This is to make sure you are a real person and not a spammer.  There are several options to identify yourself.  Since this is for beginners, I'm only going to cover the ones that will most likely pertain to you.  You can log in with your Google Account (password is secure and not shared), your name (typically your first name and last initial), or Anonymously.  Some bloggers may not allow you to log in anonymously.  Once you have filled in your info, click Post Comment.

The above is an example of one that will appear below the post in Blogger.  Enter your comment in the box.  From the drop down menu you can either select Google, Name or Anonymous.  Once you have filled in your info, click Post Comment.  If word verification is enabled, you will have to complete that before it will finish posting.

The above is an example from WordPress.  This only requires your name (first and last initial) and email address.  If word verification is enabled you will need to complete that as well.

Some bloggers may have restrictions on who can comment.  I only showed examples where restrictions were removed.  If moderation is enabled, your post will not appear right away.  This means they need to approve your comment before it can be posted.

If you are posting for a contest, they may ask you to enter your email address with your comment.  To avoid spammers, enter it as elena(at)elenagray(dot)com.

Don't be afraid to comment on a blog.  Just be respectful and have fun!

How about a little test.  Post a comment here.  You can say hi, or let me know that this is your first time posting.

Books Before Movies

I went to see Water for Elephants with a group of friends the other night.  The book was in my TBR pile, but since I knew the movie was coming out I postponed reading it.

I wanted to experience the movie without comparing it to the book.  I didn't want to be jaded in my opinion and wanted to be able to give it a fair chance.  They always say the book is better than the movie.  Well that's because we use our own imagination to visualize what the characters will look like and how the setting is portrayed.  If the movie doesn't share those same perceptions, then we leave disappointed.

Adapting a book to film is difficult.  How do you take a lengthy novel and condense it into a 2 hr movie and still do the book justice?  The movie has to appease those that have read the book and those that haven't.

That being said, half of us read the book and the other half hadn't, but we all loved it.  Reese and Rob had great chemistry and the creation of the circus was impressive.  It takes you on a behind the scenes look at how difficult circus life was during the Depression.  It was heart wrenching to see how expendable these people were and how everyone turned a blind eye as to how they were treated.

I'm not sure if the book will remain on my shelf or if I will eventually pick it up and read it now that I know the outcome.

Have you read a book that you had a difficult time finishing, but ended up enjoying the film or vice versa?

Review Fierce Dawn

Amber Scott has done it again!  Angels aren't the only winged heroes!

How do you tell a mortal that they are about to cross into the realm of immortality?  A world completely different from their own.  Well Elijah Stokes is about to find out.

Sadie Graves thinks she's losing her mind.  Her dreams are filled with a sexy winged man seducing her in bed.  She doesn't expect that man to walk into her life and transport her into the middle of a nightmare.

Someone or something is after Sadie and Elijah is the only one that can save her.  But will she be able to forgive him when she finds out the real reason he's helping her.

Be prepared to lose sleep!  I had a hard time putting this book down!  The chemistry between Sadie and Elijah sizzles.  Amber knows how to turn up the heat!  She takes you on a roller coaster ride that you won't want to end.  I can't wait for Stealing Dusk, Book 2 in the series!

If you haven't read a book by Amber Scott, you're missing out!

Fierce Dawn will be spotlighted on Best Seller for a Day on May 18th for .99.  But wait!  It get's better!  If you purchase Fierce Dawn on May 18th, you will get 3 additional books free!  Where else can you get 4 books for .99?

Let's Get This Party Started!

Why am I having a party you ask?  I promised a giveaway on my FB page when I reached 100 followers.  I exceeded that last night!  I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the great peeps that hopped on board!  So let's bust open the champagne, crank the music and mingle!  Oh did I forget to mention what the prize was?  Oops.  It's a $10 GC to Amazon!  Go knock some books off that wish list!  I would also love it if you would buy at least one book from a new author.
So how do you win this gift card you ask?  It's easy.  Head on over to my FB page Like it and answer the question I posted.  For an extra entry follow my blog by clicking the link to the right and tell me here what books you would buy if you won.  I'll leave this contest open until Midnight EST 4/28.  I'll post the winner here and on FB.

The Other Man In My Life

I have a secret to share.  There is another man in my life.  I love to snuggle under the covers with him.  We've laughed and cried together and shared some steamy nights!  Yes was so steamy it fogged up the windows!  Well last night he completely failed me!  His battery went dead in the middle of some hot sex!  Why doesn't my Kindle have some kind of feature that would zap me, so I know to plug it in?  Wait a minute.  What did you think I was talking about?  Oh...did you really think I would share something that personal here?  Um no...well maybe after a few Martinis!  So tell me, has your reading device done this to you?  Once the juice is drained you have to wait forever for it to start up again.  It was the longest ten minutes of my life.
Many people don't realize that you can still read an ebook even if you don't own an ereader.  Amazon has a free app so you can download Kindle books on just about anything.  Follow this link to see if you have a compatible device  There are loads of free ebooks out there just waiting for someone to read them.  Some are okay and others are fantastic!  I have found some authors that I absolutely love through one of their free ebooks.  It's a great way for new authors to introduce themselves.
So go download that app.  Then head over to my FB page and find some free reads.   Now I'm going to snuggle with my man and get back to that steamy sex!

BTW Smashwords is another place where you can filter for free reads and if you like the book you can link up to other works by that author.

My inspiration

Here is my inspiration for my current WIP.  Once I had
him in mind, it was easy to develop a story around him!  If you're an author, who is your current inspiration and if you're a reader, who is your favorite hero/heroine?
